"Hello,

I am Colleen Johnson-Webb, I am currently serving as the President of the Michigan Business Education Association (MBEA). I joined the MBEA board in 2007 and have held various leadership roles including Post-Secondary Representative, Secretary, President-Elect, and President.

My teaching career spans over 43 years and includes business positions at Algonac High School, and East China Schools, including St. Clair and Marine City High Schools. Throughout my teaching tenure in East China, at one time or another, I taught every course within our business education curriculum. I also served on the curriculum committee as the department representative leading the department in curriculum revisions.

After retiring in 2004, I continued to share my expertise at Baker  College in Port Huron and Clinton Township until December 2016. While at Baker, I served as the Coordinator of the Administrative Assistant Academy—a grant program through Michigan Works honing office skills in ten-week sessions to those re-entering the workforce.

While at Baker, I was also an adjunct instructor, teaching diverse subjects such as several levels of accounting, computer applications, and numerous office education courses. I served on the curriculum review committee, revising the curriculum to fit the needs of the changing workforce.

In 2016, I joined the National Business Education Board as the North Central Business Education Association (NCBEA) Director to the NBEA Board. Later I was elected NBEA President-Elect, serving as President from 2019 to 2020. During my presidency, I faced the unique challenge of selling our building in Virginia, hiring a new CEO and transitioning the face-to-face conference scheduled for Boston to a virtual format within three weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic closing down the city.

Through NCBEA, I served in several leadership roles: NCBEA Director to the NBEA Board, Secretary, NCBEA President-Elect, President, Past President, and Chairperson of the NCBEA Cabinet.

Through my leadership roles in business education, I have served on the St Clair County CTE Accounting and BMA Advisory Committee. I have also served on two State Pathway curriculum revision/writing teams—BMA and Finance. At the national level, I worked with another MI teacher and a CPA/Professor from Florida and revised the Accounting Standards segment of the NBEA National Standards for Business Education. I also worked on the Business Law Standards.

I hold a Bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University and a Master of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University.

I am married to Larry Webb, and we have two children, Nicole and Joseph, who have followed in my footsteps in the business world. Nicole currently resides in Brussels, Belgium, and works in marketing for ZF, while Joseph works from his home in Mattawan for Advizon, a Chicago-based financial software company. The newest member of our family is Bella Rose, our three-year-old Aussiedoodle.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, gardening, reading, cooking, baking, and keeping up with educational delivery trends, research, and technology.
